At The Eco Gardener, we begin every new school contract with a thorough site visit, allowing us to walk the grounds with a staff member and assess your school's specific requirements. This ensures we tailor our services to meet your exact needs. Once we understand your school's maintenance demands, we determine the necessary hours per visit to keep your outdoor spaces in top condition.
Unlike most contractors, we provide 18 visits per year for every school we work with. 16 of these visits include full grass and field cutting, while the additional two visits—scheduled in December and February—focus on spring and winter tidy-ups. These extra visits allow us to get ahead on hedge maintenance in the spring and clear the last remaining leaves in the winter, keeping your school grounds well-kept year-round.

School-Specific Risk Assessments

We provide all necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to our staff and ensure it is maintained in excellent condition. Any damaged or worn-out items are replaced immediately, without exception, to guarantee the highest level of protection.

School Grounds Maintenance

Regular Field & Lawn Mowing for Schools
As part of our standard service, all school field and lawn areas receive 16 scheduled cuts per year, from March to November. This ensures that outdoor spaces remain well-maintained, safe, and suitable for sports, play, and learning activities. Our team works efficiently to keep grass areas neat and healthy, providing a consistently high standard of care throughout the growing season.
Sports Pitches
As part of our service, we provide football and rounders pitch marking for all schools during our visits. We work closely with PE teachers to ensure markings meet their exact requirements, creating safe and well-defined playing areas for students.
Hedges/Shrubs
Keeping shrubs and hedges well-maintained is essential for a tidy, healthy, and attractive landscape. Our goal is to provide a safe, well-marked, and visually clear playing surface to help make the day a success for students, staff, and spectators alike.

We ensure that all border areas on school grounds are regularly maintained and kept clear of weeds and any unwanted debris. Our team takes a proactive approach to weed control, ensuring that pathways, flower beds, and perimeter areas remain tidy, safe, and visually appealing. By maintaining these spaces, we help create a cleaner and more welcoming outdoor environment for students and staff.
Spring & Winter Tidy Up Visits
In addition to our 16 scheduled visits, we provide schools with two extra visits each year—one in spring and one in winter—bringing the total to 18 visits annually. These additional visits allow us to get a head start on hedge maintenance in the spring and ensure a thorough cleanup of the final fallen leaves during the winter months.
